This model involves a Mentoring Program Manager (MPM), whether within the company
or an outside consultant,
matching the individuals within the program. In addition,
the MPM monitors and supports the pairs during the entire program period. This is
done either manually or through online mentoring software (such as MentoringComplete).
The program is usually focused on a specific targeted group: e.g. engineers, high
potential employees, diversity employees, etc.
The size of participants can vary from 15 pairs+ to much larger numbers. For larger
numbers, usually the MPM gets assistance from a team of colleagues who assist both
in matching and in doing ongoing monitoring and supporting of the mentoring pairs.
This model is best when a company wants to strategically link employee development
to ensure that mentorees develop in those areas that are part of a company's succession
planning for the future.
